Aurora

Heath doesn’t say much on the drive back to his house, but he glances at me appraisingly every few minutes, as if he can’t quite figure me out.

I can’t quite figure myself out. I can’t believe I told him about Aaron, especially not so quickly. Some of my closest friends don’t even know that story. Heath wasn’t wrong when he guessed that Aaron’s words still affect me. I’m the sort of girl that guys settle for. And that means I’ll probably wind up with a guy I’m settling for.

But not tonight. For tonight only, I’ll give myself over to Heath entirely. After that, I have no doubt that he’ll forget I even exist unless we run into each other at work. And I’ve come to terms with that.

I’d rather have one hot night with Heath than a mediocre lifetime with anyone else.

He pulls his car into an underground parking garage and opens my door for me. Even putting my hand in his as he helps me out of the car sends little sparks of desire though me. Ever since we got stuck in the elevator together, my mind has been preoccupied with all the things he can do to me—the things I want him to do to me.

He leads me to the elevator where he inserts a key.

“One perk of living in the penthouse,” he says. “Uninterrupted service. We’re not getting stuck on this one.”

He pins me to the back of the elevator as it rises, pressing himself against me. I can feel that he’s already hard as he presses searing kisses to my throat. I feel almost dizzy with how much I want him.

My nipples are already hard, and he bends to nibble one through my dress. “I can’t wait to strip you down and see every inch of your body,” he growls.

Normally that idea would make me nervous—there are so many parts of myself I’m not comfortable with—but I know he has no reason to lie to me. If he says it, I have to believe him. I decide, right in that moment, that I’m not going to second-guess anything that happens with Heath. I’m just going to take every possible bit of pleasure from the situation.

The elevator dings and opens directly into a large living room.

“Wow,” I gasp, looking at the enormous apartment in front of me.

“Come on,” he says. “You can get the tour later.”

He leads me down a hall and through French doors at the end. We’re in the master suite which is so big that even the king-size bed is dwarfed. I don’t have much time to look around, though, as Heath unzips my dress. He pushes it off my arms and then quickly unhooks my bra, letting it drop to the floor.

“Fuck,” he says as he stares at my breasts. “Those are even more perfect than I imagined.”

He bends down and sucks one of my nipples into his mouth. He’s not gentle about it, and I can’t believe how wet I am. I’m already a mess and we’ve barely started.
